Lt. M’Ress and Lt. Arex from the Star Trek: The Animated Series are this year’s convention ornaments. For those of you that won’t be able to make it to one of the conventions can pick it up secondhand off eBay. Convention goers are taking preorders for the ornaments with Buy it Now options starting at $99.00. They will be sold as a set of two with a retail of $40.00 and will be a limited run of 2800.
These ornaments will only be released at San Diego Comic Con (July 19-22), Star Trek Las Vegas (Aug 1-5), and New York Comic Con (Oct 4-7).
You will only know of Arex if you are a Star Trek super fan or you have such excellent recall you can summon the long ago memories of childhood Saturday mornings. Arex was voiced by our very own James Doohan on the two-season animated series.
Here it is! The 2018 Hallmark Dream Book has been released online and we got some surprises!
We had already known about three ornaments that were on the agenda, The Naked Time, U.S.S. Discovery, and the Tricorder. The Dream Book reveals a new metal NCC-1701 U.S.S. Enterprise. The ornament is listed as a premium ornament and will retail for $39.99.
But that isn’t the biggest news for 2018. Hallmark will celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Animated Series with the first ornaments honoring the series. Last year we noted the TAS’s anniversary as a possibility for a new ornament. 2018’s Convention Exclusives will include Lieutenant Arex and Lieutenant M’Ress. These ornaments will be sold as a set of two with a retail of $40.00. They will be a limited run of 2800.
Look for our animated crew members at San Diego Comic-Con (July 19-22, 2018), Official Las Vegas Star Trek Convention (August 1-5, 2018), and New York Comic Con (October 4-7, 2018).
You’ll have to wait a little longer to see what is inside the 2018 Dream Book from Hallmark but while you’re waiting here is a sneak peek of the cover.
The annual second wave of Keepsake ornaments arrives today. The October Debut follows-up on July’s Premiere event where the majority of ornaments were introduced.
Today’s ornament Debut will introduce an more than 125 additional ornaments to the 2017 Hallmark lineup. Unfortunately, we will not be seeing a new Star Trek ornament in the batch but there are still many great ones to be had.
Hallmark tweeted a photo of the third Star Trek ornament for 2018 and we will be getting a tricorder. This will accompany the Discovery and “The Naked Time” ornaments that were announced previously.
New York Comic Con is the East Coast’s largest pop culture convention and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world — Gotham City. New York Comic Con attracted over 185,000 fans in 2016, easily making it the largest comic book and pop culture gathering in the country.
New York Comic Con will be held October 5-8, 2017.
This is the last chance to attend a convention and acquire the U.S.S. Enterprise C Battle Damaged Hallmark ornament. Hallmark can be found at Booth #1920.
U.S.S. Enterprise™ NCC-1701-C, a Keepsake Ornament inspired by the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” depicts the iconic starship with a battle-damage paint scheme as it appeared on screen. This repaint of a 2015 Keepsake Ornament has a total production run of 3,325 and sales will be limited to 225 per day.
As expected, the 2018 Hallmark ship will be the U.S.S. Discovery. All we have for images so far are artist renderings.
2018 will be the first of many Star Trek: Discovery ornaments we will most likely see over the next few years. The Discovery will accompany ST: TOS’ “The Naked Time” ornament next year.

2019
CBS created a merchandising line based around Star Trek caricatures named “Quogs”.
The new designs, previously seen at the GoAnimate site and with some Funko figures, are part of a much bigger push to create a new line of Star Trek merchandise that will appeal to a broader audience with what CBS are calling ‘a fresh and accessible look.’ The proprietary animated art style applied to the classic TOS characters and settings will be extended to multiple Trek licensees and products beginning with Gluck (watches), Funko (vinyl figures), Trevco (t-shirts), Hallmark (greeting cards), and more.
