Star Trek™ The Transporter Tabletop Decoration With Light and Sound Artist Clarification

The Star Trek Transporter’s  official info page on Hallmark’s website has been updated with a change in artist.  In July, Rodney Gentry was credited as the artist for the tabletop ornament but has been recently been changed to Orville Wilson. Wilson was the artist responsible for the only other Star Trek tabletop decoration Hallmark has produced, 2016’s 50th Anniversary “To Boldly Go”.  Orville Wilson also produced 2014’s U.S.S. Vengeance.

SPOCK: You must return to your universe. I must have my captain back. I shall operate the transporter. You have two minutes and ten seconds.
KIRK: In that time I have something to say. How long before the Halkan prediction of galactic revolt is realized?
SPOCK: Approximately two hundred and forty years.
KIRK: The inevitable outcome?
SPOCK: The Empire shall be overthrown, of course.
KIRK: The illogic of waste, Mister Spock. The waste of lives, potential, resources, time. I submit to you that your Empire is illogical because it cannot endure. I submit that you are illogical to be a willing part of it.
SPOCK: You have one minute and twenty three seconds.
KIRK: If change is inevitable, predictable, beneficial, doesn’t logic demand that you be a part of it?
SPOCK: One man cannot summon the future.
KIRK: But one man can change the present. Be the captain of this Enterprise, Mister Spock. Find a logical reason for sparing the Halkans and make it stick. Push till it gives. You can defend yourself better than any man in the fleet.
SCOTT: Captain, get in the chamber!
KIRK: What about it, Spock?
SPOCK: A man must also have the power.
KIRK: In my cabin is a device that will make you invincible.
SPOCK: Indeed?
KIRK: What will it be? Past or future? Tyranny or freedom? It’s up to you.
SPOCK: It is time.
KIRK: In every revolution, there’s one man with a vision.
SPOCK: Captain Kirk, I shall consider it.

Lynn Norton’s “USS Bellwether, NX-90866, Ingress Class”

Star Trek – Lynn Norton – U.S.S. Bellwether
Mixed Media Sculpture
18″ x 11″ x 8.5″

Literature: See Star Trek: 50 Artists 50 Years, Titan Books, London, p.77 (illus).

Fictional starship display model, U.S.S. BELLWETHER, NX-90866, INGRESS CLASS science vessel with experimental METAWARP propulsion by Lynn A. Norton.

Lynn A. Norton is an artist who, since 1991, has sculpted nearly all of the Star Trek starship ornaments that have been produced by Hallmark for their beloved and bestselling Keepsake Ornaments line. Norton sculpts and prototypes original patterns for ornaments and toys from his personal home studio. His process remains the same as always. He starts by making detailed drawings and then employs engraving tools to hand-carve the ornaments from synthetic wood. Though Norton technically retired back in 2006, he continues to sculpt Hallmark’s Star Trek Keepsake Ornaments. As he told author John Peterson for the book Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments: The Inside Stories from the Artists Who Create Them, “I’d like nothing better than to sculpt starship ornaments until my fingers fall off.” He lives in Leawood, Kansas.

Although the one-of-a-kind model has been auctioned off you can purchase a 13″ x 9″ print of the model for $14.95.

085eERROR) Spock Ornament With Inverted Insignia Found

This item is currently available on eBay but is not affiliated with this site.

IMG_0755This is for two 2018 Hallmark Ornament Mr. Spock. What makes this special is that one of them is an error piece. As you can see in the pictures, one of the pieces has the Star Trek insignia on Mr. Spock’s shirt upside down. I checked online and on eBay and have not seen another one like this. The winner of this will get both the error and the correct piece. I emailed Hallmark along with the scans and even they were stumped. It could be a one of a kind piece. I purchased this last week at Kmart.

I was going to hold on to this until I have more information but I decided to sell it in order to pay for Christmas bills.

I uploaded a messaged sent by Hallmark just received today (January 3, 2019).

US buyers only please. Please feel free message me if you have any questions or if you would like additional scans.

The Trekverse is Expanding In a Big Way

It appears the Star Trek 4 movie has been delayed if not cancelled all together. Fear not, the Trekverse is expanding in a huge way. Check out what is on the Trek horizon…

Star Trek: Discovery, Season 2
img_0027Story: “We set up a mystery in season one. How come Spock – one of the most beloved characters in all of Star Trek history, let alone the world and the universe – has never mentioned his sister Michael Burnham. It was a big mystery. And I think I knew inherently that the answer to that wasn’t going to be one or two episodes. It was going to be a full season and you were really going to have to dive deep into that story and into that relationship and what happened between them. There is a lot of friction between them. It was really, for me, the storyline of season two. They work out their relationship agains the backdrop of a larger mystery and it turns out that if they don’t fix their relationship, they are not going to solve the mystery.” -Alex Kurtzman
Format: Live-action series, CBS All Access
Time period: Ten years prior to Star Trek: TOS
Premiere date: January 17, 2019

Star Trek: Short Treks
Story: Unknown
Format: Two animated episodes, CBS All Access
Time period: Unknown
Premiere date: Spring 2019, after conclusion of Star Trek: Discovery, Season Two.

Star Trek: Picardimg_0040
Story: Centering on Jean-Luc Picard after the supernova that lead to the destruction of Romulus and the apparent death of Ambassador Spock.
Format: Live-action series, CBS All Access
Time period: After Star Trek Beyond
Premiere date: Fall 2019

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Story: Geared towards young adults centering around cadets at Starfleet Academy in San Francisco.
Written by: Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl)
Format: Live-action series
Time period: Unknown
Premiere date: To be announced

Star Trek: Lower Decks
Story: “The showrunner of Rick and Morty Mike McMahan came to me and said, “I want to do a show about the people in the lower decks of the space ship whose job is to take the yellow cartridge and put it in the processor and make sure the banana comes out the other side.” And I said, “You can stop pitching because that is perfect.” It’s not that we are doing Rick and Morty in the world of Star Trek, although if you watch Rick and Morty you will see that it is deeply influenced by Star Trek, which is really wonderful. It’s just a very different tone. The key is to laugh with Star Trek and not at Star Trek. And it will skew slightly more adult.” -Alex Kurtzman
Written by: Mike McMahon (Rick & Morty)
Format: Half hour animated comedy, CBS All Access
Time period: Unknown
Premiere date: To be announced

Star Trek: Section 31img_0042
Story: Spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery with Philippa Georgiou from the mirror universe as an agent of Section 31.
Format: Live-action series
Time period: Concurrently with Star Trek: Discovery
Premiere date: Not officially announced. At least one episode of the second season of Star Trek: Discovery will serve as a backdoor pilot.

Star Trek: Animated Series #3
Story: A kids-focused animated series that serves as an introduction to the Star Trek universe.
Format: Two season animated series, likely CBS All Access
Time period: Unknown
Premiere date: To be announced

Star Trek: Ceti Alpha V
Story: “I was commissioned to write a 3-hour or 3-night event, and that’s what I did. It’s called Ceti Alpha V and I don’t know the current status. It’s been up in the air. Partially, there was a lot of confusion between CBS, and there were big upheavals at CBS and while they sort of didn’t know who was in charge, they also didn’t know what they were going to do with Ceti Alpha V. I’m not exactly sure what’s happened, I haven’t heard from them in some time. It’s very good. It’s a terrific trilogy. I think one of the things that happened is they’re not sure that a trilogy is long enough to warrant the cost of doing it. Maybe it should be something longer, or … I don’t know the details of their thinking, because I haven’t heard them.” -Nicholas Meyer
Written by: Nicholas Meyer
Format: Live-action three part mini-series
Time period: Between ST: TOS Space Seed and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Premiere date: To be announced
