PopMinded by Hallmark plans its highest-ever level of yearly participation at the nation’s largest pop culture fan gatherings with limited quantities of products and collectibles developed exclusively for events starting next month.

PopMinded, which debuted nationally last year, is Hallmark’s new way to celebrate fandom with gifts and collectibles created and chosen with all fans in mind. PopMinded continues and expands on Hallmark’s decade-long tradition of providing event attendees access to Hallmark’s ever popular event exclusive products through its event pop-up store.

PopMinded will appear at Planet Comicon Kansas City scheduled April 28-30 at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Mo.

Three exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornament designs including the Enterprise C repaint, an itty bittys® plush, and two other gift items will be sold in limited quantities at Comic-Con International, to be held July 20-23 in San Diego, Calif.

U.S.S. Enterprise™ NCC-1701-C, a Keepsake Ornament inspired by the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” depicts the iconic starship with a battle-damage paint scheme as it appeared on screen.  This repaint of a 2015 Keepsake Ornament has a total production run of 3,325 and sales will be limited to 225 per day.

PopMinded will make its first appearance at The Official 2017 Star Trek Convention, scheduled Aug. 2-6 at the Rio Suites Hotel in Las Vegas. The repainted U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C Keepsake Ornament previously available at Comic-Con International will be sold at this event with 100 available each day.

Another first for PopMinded will be Salt Lake Comic Con, scheduled Sept. 21-23 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Products to be sold at the PopMinded booth will be announced closer to the event.

At New York Comic Con, set for Oct. 5-8 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, PopMinded will offer all items previously available at Comic-Con International with the same daily allocations.

Additional details about prices for each exclusive product, as well as activity plans for each event will be announced closer to the respective convention dates.

Star Trek: Discovery and U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031

Big news from San Diego Comic Con!  The new Star Trek series has a name and it is Star Trek: Discovery (STD for short – oops).  With the new series comes a new flagship, the U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031.  Look for a Discovery ornament maybe as soon as next year since Paramount will want to promote their new series as much as possible.

“Discovery is so intrinsic as a concept to the philosophy that is Star Trek and it felt like it was a beautiful way to acknowledge that spirit and also… what Star Trek has provided for me is an inspiration on where we’re going as a species and a planet… and it has given me so much hope for a better world because we need it in the world we’re living [in] right now. We need curiosity and we need inspiration and we need to find better versions of ourselves and we need to discover better versions of ourselves.” – Brian Fuller

“For hardcore Trekkies, the design of the ship is both comfortingly familiar, and surprisingly retro. And not exactly retro in a 1960’s or a 1990’s kind of way, but instead, in a pop-culture alternate-dimension kind of way. The U.S.S. Discovery is a throwback to an alternate dimension of the 1970s, when the fledgling Trek and Wars franchises blended together in concept art. The design for the U.S.S. Discovery on the new show is almost identical to designs that Ralph McQuarrie, the late and famous Star Wars concept designer, sketched for the original U.S.S. Enterprise back in 1976.  Back then, Paramount was planning to reboot Trek on TV with a show called Star Trek: Phase II .” Read more at…https://www.inverse.com/article/18731-star-trek-discovery-star-wars-influence.

No 2017 Hallmark Star Trek Ornament Previews at SDCC

image

Unfortunately, Hallmark did not preview their 2017 Star Trek line up at San Diego Comic Con.  It seems they are sharing a booth with LucasFilm and could only display LucasFilm products.  Star Wars fans were able to preview 5-6 of next year’s Star Wars ornament.

It hasn’t been confirmed but it is probably safe to assume we will get our Star Trek ornament previews at Star Trek: Mission New York, scheduled Sept. 2-4.

Preorders have been selling on eBay since April but look for current availability to drive prices down.

2017 Hallmark Star Trek Ornaments Preview Today

image

The San Diego Comic-Con has its preview night tonight, July 20, 2016 before it opens for business tomorrow.  Preview Night runs from 6:00 -9:00 pm local time. In what has become an annual tradition each July, expect to see images of the 2017 Hallmark Star Trek ornaments leak out today and tomorrow.

The Star Trek Legends Series appears complete with this year’s Chekov release so we may see a Next Generation Legends Series begin.  A ship from this month’s Star Trek Beyond seems likely but I am holding out hope for an Enterprise B.  As far as what scene we will get in 2017? Popular untapped episodes include The Doomsday Machine, Space Seed, The Enterprise Incident, Journey to Babel and Balance of Terror.  After the year we have had I am hoping for an ornament based off Let That Be Your Last Battlefield.

Looking even further into the future, 2018 will likely bring a new ornament based on January’s new Star Trek series.
