I have seen this gentlemans ornaments on ebay he says most of the time his repairs work. But some times they do not that I want to get my ornament fixed by some one who knows what they are doing. That person seems to be you I would really like to get my ornament working again. I saw your video you know how to fix the right way so after you send it back it will keep working. But this other guy admits his repairs do not always keep working after he sends them back. I do not want to spend money getting my ornament fixed only to have stop working. I need your help.

OK,,,,,firing phasers in the dark……Has anyone had a similar issue (power/lights but no sound) on the QXI6205 Locutus Of Borg ornament (2005)? Does anyone offer repair and/or know how to disassemble the ornament? I can find nothing online other than a few “no sound” references on eBay. Thanks

I have no heard of that particular ornament being susceptible to losing sound. The City on the Edge of Forever ornament is known for sound issues and there are a couple people on eBay that offer repairs for it. In that case, it is due to n overheating capacitor.

If there was an obvious fix I would direct you to it but in your case your cheapest and easiest option is likely to just find a replacement on eBay for $20-$25.

Thank you for your feedback. I have reached a similar conclusion, I’m just wary of buying another when I am not confident it won’t have the same problem. The one I have was purchased on eBay in “new” condition, and in fairness to the seller it certainly gave the appearance of something in its original packaging. Problem is (IMO) the age of even unused ornaments, this one in particular is just south of 20 yrs. I’m wondering if the shelf life would be longer with a new capacitor even if it did work out of the box. Best bet at this point is to buy one that is confirmed in working condition. Thanks again…

I wish you would have done a bit of editing and better preparation on this video. For example, figure out how the base nubs are removed before wasting so much video time on it. Also, the entire video was completely out of focus. These are pretty basic things to consider if you are publishing something of value.
