La Sirena Ornament Review
Trekcore.com has posted a review of the latest Hallmark Star Trek ornament. La Sirena was the first ornament representing Star Trek: Picard and is available in stores now.

As for the “magic” features, this year’s Hallmark offering doesn’t have any lighting effects, though this version of La Sirena does have an integrated sound chip which cycles through a handful of audio clips from Star Trek: Picard’s first season — all from Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), though it would have been nice to have at least one recording of the starship’s captain, Cris Rios (Santiago Cabrera) in the mix.

By the Numbers: Enterprise B Day!
Today, November 18, 2021, is the 27th anniversary of the release of Star Trek Generations and with it comes the stark reminder that we are still without a Hallmark Enterprise NCC-1701-B ornament. How can any collection be complete with this infamous Excelsior-class starship missing. This was the site of legendary James T. Kirk’s “death”!

An upgrade of the Excelsior-class, she was the third Federation starship to bear the name Enterprise.
During her maiden voyage under Captain Harriman, the starship received a distress call from two El-Aurian transport vessels caught in a strange, mysterious energy ribbon. Kirk, on board as an honored guest, assisted in the rescue while the Enterprise-B got caught in the Nexus.
Kirk was integral in saving the ship, but as the Enterprise pulls away, the ribbon suddenly strikes the starship, tearing a large gash through the hull.
In its wake, it left only a gaping hole in the bulkhead where Captain Kirk once was.

Hallmark has produced no less than 24 Enterprise ornaments over the course of 30 years and still we wait for the NCC-1701-B.

Star Trek Generations was released in 1994 and Hallmark has missed opportunities at the 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th anniversaries. Generations’ 30th anniversary is only three years away and it would be a perfect opportunity to “right the ship”. Hallmark, you’re on the clock!

OOF! 😉
Okay, let’s all sit down and have an honest chat about the B. I assure you that we’ve had her on our sensors for a long time. (As also the U.S.S. Excelsior—and yes, we are very in tune with the design differences between the starships.) The short answer is, sure, we could do the B . . . but you wouldn’t be so happy about it.
I’m hoping I can get an assist here with some top and side profiles (hint hint). I know a lot of us could do a pretty good job sketching the B from memory but take a good look at the design here. To do the B the way we would want to—with light in all the right places—that’s not an easy trick. We have to pack those skinny nacelles (these are hardly ample, Scotty) with wires and lights and plot the placement of circuit boards and battery housings and all the things either in the primary hull, which is pretty shallow as well, or the pot-belly of a secondary hull that isn’t quite as accommodating as you think.
One solution is just to make the whole ornament big enough to do everything you’d expect it to do . . . leaving you with a B that is unpleasantly out of scale with the rest of your collection and possibly a price point that would be a bump up, too.
Part of the wait we’re all experiencing is on technology. Advancements in consumer electronics, many of which come with price reductions, happen all the time. It was the introduction of a tiny wireless RF chip at the right price that unlocked our ability to do our Storytellers ornaments. I’m hoping you’ve enjoyed what’s come of that so far. 😉
In my own personal experience (and it’s matched by that of plenty of others) the B is the second-most requested Star Trek Keepsake Ornament I’ve heard. The only request I’ve heard more over the years is for a U.S.S. Enterprise tree topper and you know how that story ends. We get it; we want the B, too. I can tell you that it’s not an “if,” it’s a “when.” We just don’t know when.
I’d be remiss if I signed off without thanking each of you for your support of what we’re doing with the Star Trek license. I’m over the moon from your responses to Star Trek Storytellers—it’s among my associations with Star Trek of which I’m most proud. I’m so eager for next year’s additions to complete the story. You’re all terrific and I appreciate you greatly.
Kevin
PS—if you’re gonna make a pitch of reasons to do the B, I might reconsider the mention of it being the place where Captain Kirk died. We’ve done a Star Trek death scene before and I still remember the social media response to THAT one. haha 😉

Star Trek: The Experience Stocking! (#703308)
Las Vegas was home to a unique interactive Star Trek destination from 1998-2008 called Star Trek: The Experience. The gift shop offered many non-Hallmark Star Trek ornaments and a Christmas tree skirt and now it seems there was also a matching Christmas stocking (703308). The stocking had an original MSRP of $20.00.
The tree skirt doesn’t come around very often on ebay and this is my first time seeing the matching Christmas stocking. The auction ends November 16, 2021 so if this is something of interest you may want to jump on it quickly.
This auction is not affiliated with this site.

Update
Final sale price $139.41 with $15.99 shipping.

Another tree skirt sold by itself on the same day for $139.50 with free shipping.

William Shatner Going Into Space

*UPDATE*
Shatner: In a way, it’s indescribable.
Bezos: That’s what I thought. You have to work on it, it’s so hard to describe.
Shatner: Not only is it different than what you thought, it happens so quickly. You know what I… the impression I had, that I never expected to have, is the shooting up… and there’s new sky.
[commotion while Bezos opens champagne]
Shatner: I can’t tell you what you have … if — everybody in the world needs to do this. Everybody in the world needs to see the, um… it’s still too… it was unbelievable, unbelievable. I mean, you know, the little things, the weightlessness. But to see the blue color go whoop by, and now you’re staring into blackness — that’s the thing! The covering of blue was… the sheet, this blanket, this comforter of blue that we have around us, we think, ‘Oh, that’s blue sky.’ And then suddenly you shoot through it all of a sudden, as though you whip off a sheet off you when you’re asleep, and you’re looking into blackness, into black ugliness, and you look down, there’s the blue down there, and the black up there and it’s… it’s just… there is Mother Earth and comfort, and there is — is there death? I don’t know, is that death? Is that the way death is? Whoop, and it’s gone. Jesus. It was so moving to me. This experience, it’s something unbelievable. You see, yeah, you know, weightless, my stomach went up … ‘This is so weird!’
But not as weird as the covering of blue. This is what I never expected! Oh it’s one thing to say ‘Oh the sky and the thing and the fragile’ — it’s all true! But what isn’t true, what is unknown until you do it is there’s this pillow, there’s this soft blue! Look at the beauty of that color! And it’s so thin! And you’re through it in an instant! It’s, what a — how thick is it, do we know? Is it a mile, two miles? … But you’re going 2,000 miles an hour, so you’re through 50 miles, whatever the mathematics … it’s like a beat and a beat and suddenly you’re through the blue! And you’re into black! And you’re into, you know, it’s mysterious and galaxies and things, but what you see is black, and what you see down there is light, and that’s the difference.
And not to have this, [to Bezos] you have done something, I mean whatever those other guys are doing, what isn’t, they don’t, I don’t know about them. What you have given me is the most profound experience I can imagine. I’m so filled with emotion about what just happened, I just… it’s extraordinary, extraordinary. I hope I never recover from this. I hope that I can maintain what I feel now, I don’t want to lose it. It’s so… it’s so much larger than me and life. It hasn’t got anything to do with the little green planet, the blue orb and the — it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the enormity, and the quickness and the suddenness of life and death and the — oh my god.
Bezos: It’s so beautiful.
Shatner: Beautiful, yes, beautiful in its way, but—
Bezos: No, I mean your words.
Shatner: Oh my words.
Bezos: It’s just amazing.
Shatner: I can’t even begin to express what… What I would love to do is to communicate as much as possible the jeopardy, the moment you see how… the vulnerability of everything — it’s so small! This air which is keeping us alive is thinner than your skin! It’s a sliver, it’s immeasurably small when you think in terms of the universe. It’s negligible, this air. Mars doesn’t have it. Nothing… I mean, this… And when you think, wait, carbon dioxide change [sic] to oxygen at, what is it, 20% or something, that level sustains our life — it’s so thin, to dirty it — I mean, that’s another whole subject—
Bezos: And you shoot through, what you were saying about shooting through it so fast.
Shatner: So quickly! Fifty miles of—
Bezos: —and then you’re just in blackness!
Shatner: And you’re in death! The moment—
Bezos: This is life.
Shatner: This is life, and that’s death. And it’s, in an instant you go, ‘Whoa, that’s death!’ That’s what I saw.
Bezos: That’s amazing. That’s amazing.

Shatner: I am, I am overwhelmed. I had no idea. You know, we were talking earlier before going, ‘Well, you know, it’s going to be different,’ ‘Yeah,’ and whatever that phrase is you have, that you have a different view of things. It doesn’t begin to explain, to describe what a, well for me, I mean everybody’s gonna… But — and this is now the commercial — everybody, it would be so important for everybody to have that experience through one means or another. I mean maybe you could put it on 3D and wear the goggles—
Bezos: Yeah.
Shatner: —and have that experience. I mean that’s, that certainly is a technical possibility. But what you need also… We’re lying there and I’m thinking, ‘This is one delay after another delay,’ we’re lying there, how do I feel, and I’m thinking, ‘I’m a little jittery here,’ and well they moved the [inaudible], ‘Oh, there’s something in the engine, they found an anomaly in the engine,’ ‘They found an anomaly in the engine?’ ‘We’re going to hold a little longer.’ ‘Oh you’re going to hold a little longer?’ And I feel this, you know, the stomach, the biome inside, and I’m thinking, okay, I’m thinking ‘I’m a little nervous here’ — another delay — ‘I’m a little more nervous,’ and then the things start. By the way, this simulation is, they have to be [inaudible] — it’s only a simulation. Everything else is much more powerful.
Bezos: Doesn’t capture—
Shatner: Doesn’t capture the — and besides which, the jeopardy. Bang, this thing hits, you go [imitates shaking], you know. That wasn’t anything like the simulation.
Bezos: The G-force is pulling your skin!
Shatner: Yeah, the G-force and your stomach and you’re like, ‘What’s going to happen to me? Am I going to be able to survive the G-force?’ You feel that. ‘Am I going to survive it?’ And then I think, ‘Good Lord, you know, just getting up the bloody gantry was enough!’
Bezos: [laughs]
Shatner: Oh my god what an experience, what a… Nothing, nothing…
Bezos: It looked like you had a moment of camaraderie with your crewmates up there.
Shatner: Oh, we all hugged each other. You know, you share, it’s like being in battle together, really. And there is this bonding of being in battle. But you’re also embattled inside yourself. Oh my goodness. I have had an experience.

- REFRESH! In July, the website didn’t go live until 12:02. There were reports that ornaments went from ‘COMING SOON’ to ‘OUT OF STOCK’ and back to ‘IN STOCK’ just from refreshing the page.
- Don’t get greedy. Hallmark says you’re not allowed to purchase more than one of each ornament. You may consider getting only one ornament in total. Most customers who had issues during the SDCC event seemed to be buying more than one ornament (i.e. an HMS Bounty AND a Boba Fett).
- Just because you have an ornament in your shopping cart does not mean it has been allocated to you. You must have your credit card ready. Better yet, have it already on file through the website.
- Create a hallmark.com account and save your credit card info under profile – payment methods.
- If you have purchased from hallmark.com before it is likely your credit card is still on file. Verify ahead of time that it is still a good credit card number.
For details on how to purchase exclusives, visit PopMinded.com/Events and expect the PopMinded convention shop to return in-person, to a full line-up of events in 2022.
Trekmovie.com Reviews Hallmark ‘Star Trek IV’ HMS Bounty Klingon Bird Of Prey

This ornament has no bells and whistles. The 1994 plastic Klingon Bird of Prey from Hallmark has lights that are powered by plugging into a string of Christmas lights, which the Bounty edition does not because it is solid metal. The die casting is very good. A lot of little details can be seen and felt, from tiny ridges on the fuselage and raised patterns on the wings to the detailed weapons turrets. The finished product is clean with no visible seams or flaws.
Holding this hefty little bird in my hand I can imagine a couple of humpback whales inside. No wonder it’s so heavy!
