Space Station Deep Space Nine, under the command of Captain Benjamin Sisko, orbiting the planet of Bajor, is the gatekeeper for the worm hole that leads to the Gamma Quadrant. Because of the danger that the wormhole presents, the station has become the permanent home of the U.S.S. Defiant. This Star Trek Hallmark ornament can become very impressive when displayed with the miniature starships of the Starfleet Legends or Ships of Star Trek sets (sold separately).

19) 1999 Lt. Commander Worf

Worf, the first Klingon to serve as a Starfleet officer, served as a Lieutenant on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and quickly climbed through the ranks to become a Lieutenant Commander, as the Operations Officer on Deep Space Nine, under the command of Captain Benjamin Sisko. Born on the Klingon Homeworld, the eldest son of Mogh, Worf was raised by humans because his family was killed at the Battle of Kittamer when the Romulans destroyed the Klingon outpost because they were betrayed by the Duras family. After accepting discommendation, Worf eventually regained the honor of his family by killing Duras with his Bat’leth – the same weapon his father once used, as featured in this Star Trek Hallmark Ornament. Worf, like most Klingons, values of honor and loyalty above all else, as demonstrated by his most famous quote from Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he said: “If winning is not important, then why keep score?” … spoken like a TRUE Klingon

Artist:  Lynn Norton

Novelty:  String light

Box Text:  A unique ornament – featuring the U.S.S. Enterprise-E NCC-1701-E from Star Trek: First Contact.  Under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the crew of the 24th-century Starship Enterprise is traveling back in time to the 21st century.  There, they’ll confront the biggest threat to the Star Trek universe – the Borg, whose actions would alter history and turn Earth into a Borg colony.  The U.S.S. Enterprise seen in the movie is the sixth starship in the history of the Federation to carry the proud name Enterprise.

The front deflector shield as well as both warp engines and the impulse engines are lighted.

Serial #:  QXI7633

Lynn Norton…“I adore the E. They did things to it to make it look more aerodynamic than it needed to be, but those choices gave it more style—a more swept-back, speedy appearance like a modern race car.

“There were a lot of products out there being developed right along side the model during (Star Trek: First Contact’s) production. I was getting the same photos from the studio as everyone else was, and originally the E had a blue-glowing deflector array. We went to see the movie and there’s that whole scene set on the deflector array and they’re out there walking around on it—and it’s amber! I was like ‘What the?’ But we were able to make that change while the ornament was in development at the toolmaker. Because it didn’t go to stores right away, our ornament was one of the few screen-accurate products on the market at the time.”

14) 1997 Dr. Leonard H. McCoy

 image

“I’m a doctor – not a bricklayer”

These are the famous words of Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, the Chief Medical Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Although the colorful doctor has the best sick bay in all of Starfleet at his disposal, he seems most comfortable being a simple doctor and genuinely seems to help healing the sick – although his comments about the 1990s being “the dark ages” in Star Trek iV were quite humerous when he spoke to a patient about kidney dialysis. However, this 1997 Hallmark ornament depicts a rather ironic view of Dr. McCoy (played by actor DeForrest Kelly), as it has him inside of a transporter – a device that the doctor hates to use. Dr. McCoy appeared in the original TV series and the six feature films, and also made an appearance as an admiral on Star Trek: The Next Generation. His parting words to Commander Data (about the Enterprise) were: “Treat her like a lady, and she’ll always bring you home”. Dr. McCoy was also quite a cook, according to his friend James (Jim) Kirk – who asked for his “secret ingredient” – which happened to be Tennessee Whisky – while they were camping after the good captain fell off of a huge mountain in Star Trek V.

12) 1996 Mr. Spock

 image

Fascinating! The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise would hear this word spoken by their Vulcan science officer many times as he mans the science station abourd their starship, as shown by this 1996 Star Trek Hallmark Keepsake Ornament. Although Mr. Spock was half human and half Vulcan (his mother was Amanda Grayson, a human, and his father was Sarek, a Vulcan Diplomat), it was always clear that Spock’s mid was trained in the Vulcan way, but the crew could always see how he would struggle to incorporate his human thoughts and feelings. Mr. Spock served as the first officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise under two different captains (Christopher Pike and James T. Kirk), until he was promoted to Captain himself and given command of the Enterprise, only to relinquish command to Admiral Kirk in Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan. Mr. Spock, as played by Leonard Nimoy, appeared in 7 feature films, including as an older version of himself in the 2009 Star Trek “reboot” film.

And of course, he was famous for telling everyone to “Live long and prosper” – and reminding us that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few … or of the one (as Captain Kirk added).
