This ornament almost snuck past me because “2011” and “Defiant” are two missing keywords from the ebay heading and description.

U.S.S. Defiant” STAR TREK™ Special Edition
Commissioned in the mid-23rd century, the U.S.S. Defiant served as one of 13 Constitution-class starships that explored strange new worlds on behalf of the United Federation of Planets. In the classic Star Trek episode “The Tholian Web” (1968), the Defiant became trapped in an area of spatial interphase between universes, the properties of which gave the starship an eerie green glow before it was consumed by a rift to suffer an uncertain fate.
This special edition ornament is one of 700 issued for and only available at the 2011 New York Comic-Con Event.

Additional information:
U.S.S. Defiant, STAR TREK™ – The ill-fated U.S.S. Defiant is from the third-season episode “The Tholian Web” and celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original “Star Trek” television series. Based on a 2006 Keepsake Ornament of the U.S.S. Enterprise, it features luminescent paint that allows the ornament to glow green in the dark as seen in the fan-favorite episode.
Pros: Every detail on this ornament is absolutely glorious. The way it glows when the lights go out perfectly captures the eerie tone of The Tholian Web. Its eerie glow and iconic shape make it a true standout in the TOS lineup.
Cons: None. This one’s a masterpiece and deserves every bit of its glowing reputation.

If you are a Star Trek ornament completist there are six ornaments which will prove the most elusive. Some were produced in small quantities for conventions which immediately made them collectibles. Some were more widely available but are rarely seen up for resell because owners likely do not know they have something of value. Both quantity and collectability awareness contribute to an ornament’s availability and price in the secondhand market.

Usually seen in “engineering and security” red. Lieutenant Uhura wore this striking “command” gold uniform. This special event edition repaint of the 2007 Lieutenant Uhura limited quantity ornament was created for exclusive distribution at major collector events and conventions.
Uhura was the first Star Trek Event Exclusive ornament and was originally available at San Diego Comic-Con. Only two Uhura Gold ornaments have been available on eBay in the past twelve months with the last one being more than six months ago. Secondhand websites list the ornament for $1,799.99.
Quantity: Low, 450 units
Demand: High
Collectability awareness: High
Original retail: $25.00
2022-23 eBay prices: $1,315 – $2,015

The U.S.S. Defiant features luminescent paint that allows the ornament to glow-in-the-dark as seen in “The ThoIian Web”. In celebration of Star Trek’s 45th anniversary, Hallmark produced 700 U.S.S. Defiant ornaments available at New York Comic-Con.
Although more units were produced than the 2009 Uhura Gold, the quantity still pales in comparison to recent event exclusives that can number over 3,000. Ornament resell websites list this ornament as high as $3,999.99.
Four Defiants have been sold on eBay in the past fourteen months and one is available now with an asking price of $1,899.99.
Quantity: Low, 700 units
Demand: Very High
Collectability awareness: High
Original retail: $32.95
2022 eBay prices: $1,285 – $2,000

Limited to a production run of 100 for Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary, there isn’t a lot that screams Star Trek with this ornament. Hallmark’s familiar Maxine sports the delta logo badge on her shirt and a Star Trek shopping bag hangs from the crook of her elbow. The packaging is labeled with the Trek 50th Anniversary insignia and a blue starburst announces it is a “convention exclusive”.
Nothing on the packaging of this ornament mentions it is limited to only 100 pieces, a far lower number than any other Star Trek event exclusive ornament. There was some turnover initially but the Maxine ornament today is rarely on eBay.
Originally available at Star Trek: Mission New York and New York Comic Con for $30.00. There is not a lot about the Maxine ornament that screams Star Trek. She sports the Delta insignia and her shopping bag has a Trek reference written on the side but other than that the ornament is ALL Maxine from her sunglasses down to her bunny slippers.
Only three Maxine ornaments have been sold on eBay in the past three years, none of which have were offered in the past ten months.
Quantity: Very low, 100 units
Demand: Moderate
Collectability awareness: High
Original retail: $30.00
2022 eBay price: $800

Mr. Spock brings a holiday wish to “Live long and prosper. ” Failing to add this stylized decoupage ornament of the resourceful Vulcan to your Christmas tree would be highly illogical. The ornament is ready to hang on your Christmas tree with a hanger attachment.
Even though it was available in Walmarts over two holiday seasons, the Spock decoupage was not plentiful. Stores never seemed to have more than a half dozen originally and resupply was far and few between.
This ornament likely hangs on many many trees across the United States but it is doubtful owners know it can command a high price and it is seldom seen on resell sights. Three have been sold on eBay in the past sixteen months but none have been offered up in the last twelve months.
Quantity: Unknown
Demand: Moderate
Collectability awareness: Low
Original retail: $5.97
2022 eBay prices: $154 – $178

This Walmart exclusive Galileo ornament was only available for one year and is the more sought after of the two decoupages.
With such a low retail price it is likely owners have no clue that the ornament could bring in a high asking price on eBay. The last one sold on eBay was sixteen months ago.
Quantity: Unknown
Demand: Moderate
Collectability awareness: Low
Original retail: $5.97
2022 eBay price: $291

A Christmas tree ornament that captures the essence of Captain Jean-Luc Picard? Make it so! Captain Picard was among the youngest Starfleet officers ever to command a starship. Relive his missions at the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-D from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” with this figural decoration.
This Picard ornament was only available on Amazon in December of 2021. It sold out quickly and it is unclear how many were made available but we know at least of at least 169 were sold since we have that many purchase reviews listed on the site.
Many consumers didn’t know they were getting a rare ornament when they stumbled across them on Amazon. They have no idea the Picard ornament can fetch a high price on eBay. Prices will range wildly depending on the knowledge of the seller. It has been sold as a “buy it now” for less than $20 and it has been listed as “rare” and sold for over $130.
Only two of 2021 Picard ornaments have been sold on eBay since it was originally released on Amazon but none have been listed in the past fourteen months.
Quantity: Possibly Very Low (Unknown)
Demand: Moderate
Collectability awareness: Low
Original retail: $9.00
2022 eBay prices: $17 – $133
A second Defiant ornament is available on eBay with an asking price of $2,499. Currently, there is another Defiant up in a bidding war that ends Saturday. That auction currently has a top bid of $961 with two days to go.

A 7-day auction brings us eBay’s first U.S.S. Defiant of 2023. The Defiant had a limited run of only 700 when it was released in 2011 and came with a glow-in-the-dark paint job. It quickly became one of the most highly sought after Hallmark Star Trek ornaments. The Defiant typically resells from $1,200-$2,000 when it shows up on the auction site. The eBay auction ends Saturday.

Values below come from Hooked on Hallmark (HoH) and The Ornament Factory (OF) as of 4.05.23. Prices are based off ornaments in boxes listed in mint condition. It is very likely you can find Hallmark Star Trek ornaments at a reduced price on other sites or eBay. This list should be used to judge rarity or demand rather than resell value.
Hooked on Hallmark and The Ornament Factory are not affiliated with this site. HallmarkStarTrekOrnaments.com does not resell any ornaments.

Hallmark branded ornaments (red box ornaments) typically can not be found for resell on ornament websites. The following prices for these ornaments are based on most recent eBay sales.

2023 Star Trek ornaments will be released in two waves; July ‘23 and October ‘23.
Be sure to purchase all 2023 ornaments at your local Hallmark store or Hallmark.com.

Another 2011 Defiant threatens to make a dent in someone’s holiday pocketbook. The latest glow-in-the-dark ship to be offered on eBay has a price of $1,284.98 with shipping. This ornament appears to have some discoloration on the saucer section and as noted in the description the box has some slight creasing.

Two things that make me go “Hmmmm . . ..”
—The listing is down—or at least I can’t find it in my searches.
—That mottling on the primary hull. The Defiant was a bit of an experiment for us. It was the first time we used phosphorescent paint on an ornament to that extent. Maybe after 10 years, they all are doing that. I’ve not pulled mine out to look at it in some time. I’m understandably curious.
In my search, I *did* find this listing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/295346484993 (seen in this post)
And this one is making my Spidey Sense tingle. Very high price, all feedback seems to be as a buyer rather than a seller, and all those photos but not one photo of the ornament itself? While I recognize that there are plenty of sellers on eBay for whom English is not a first language. That said, the description on this one also gives me pause.
If you go looking for the one in this post and find the one in my comment, this is me, friend to friend, saying caveat emptor.

A second 2011 Defiant is up on eBay. Earlier this week a Defiant, which remains unsold, was offered up at $3,000 and $2,500. This second Defiant, from a different seller, has an asking price of $2,000.
