2024 Star Trek Ornaments Presented by Kevin Dilmore

To celebrate Star Trek: The Next Generation, we have two ornaments:

—Dr. Beverly Crusher from the series available in October. This ornament features the Enterprise’s Chief Medical Officer in her lab coat rushing to a medical emergency tricorder in hand. This is the first non-Magic Keepsake Ornament produced of an Enterprise-D crew member since 1997 and it’s certainly time to get back in the habit of doing so.

—Spock and Data in a scene from the Season 5 episode “Unification II” available in October. This ornament features sound from a conversation the two share in the episode that aired in November 1991.

To celebrate the five-year anniversary of Anson Mount assuming the role, we have Captain Christopher Pike from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds available in October. This ornament features dialogue and sound effects from the final moments of “Strange New Worlds,” the pilot episode of the series.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Trek Generations, we have the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B available in October. (Yes, finally.) This ornament features light effects activated by pushing a button.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of GalaxyQuest, we have the N.S.E.A. Protector available in October. Is this a Star Trek ornament? Well, no. Will Star Trek fans want to add this to their tree? Absolutely.

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, we have two ornaments:

—Spock wearing the standard duty Starfleet uniform introduced in the mid-2270s as a miniature ornament available in October.

—The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 refit as a miniature ornament available in October.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the completion of “The Cage,” Star Trek’s first episode, we have The Keeper available in July.

Additional information:
Inspired by the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” depicts the iconic starship with a battle-damage paint scheme as it appeared on screen.  This repaint of a 2015 Keepsake Ornament has a total production run of 3,325 and sales will be limited to 225 per day. Available at the San Diego Comic Con, New York Comic Con, and the Official 2017 Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas. Includes lights.
Pros: This is the version fans remember from Yesterday’s Enterprise—scarred, weathered, and forged in battle. It’s satisfying to see a screen-accurate rendition of the ship’s brief but heroic appearance.
Cons: The battle damage is underwhelming. The markings feel too uniform and faint, lacking the scorched intensity of, say, the 2013 battle-damaged Kelvin. Up close, the damage resembles chicken footprints more than plasma fire.

Additional information:
A Christmas ornament that captures the essence of operations aboard the bridge of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D with Captain Jean-Luc Picard at the helm? Make it so! Fans of STAR TREK: The Next Generation™ won’t want to miss this cool decoration that also features beloved android Lieutenant Commander Data and dialogue from the show.
Pros: It’s always a win to see Picard in the captain’s chair, hand raised just before delivering his iconic “Engage.” A solid pairing with Data and a natural choice for a TNG tribute.
Cons: For an anniversary ornament, this feels like a missed opportunity. Rather than capturing a defining moment, it’s just a static pose. If we’re commemorating The Next Generation, give us something iconic—like a two-piece ornament set with the Enterprise-D’s saucer and star drive sections separated, just like in Encounter at Farpoint. Now that would engage us.

Okay, that’s a fair “con.” I can’t confirm this but I believe this began life as a concept for a tabletop to fast-follow the 2016 To Boldly Go. It might even have had Riker or another character on it, too. Then things got scaled down and it is what it is.

Pros: Accurate detailing brings the USS Franklin to life, capturing its rugged design from Star Trek Beyond. A nice addition for completists.

2024 Hallmark Dream Book! Enterprise B! Crusher! Pike! The Keeper! And MORE!

First images from the 2024 Hallmark Dream Book is here! Thank you to John L. who sent me the images below showcasing a whopping seven Star Trek ornaments, two of which are mini ornaments.

Finally! We have the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B to grace our trees. The Enterprise B has been on the annual “want list” for more than a decade now! Thank you, Hallmark!

Spock and Data share an ornament for Unification II. The Keeper debuts, giving us our first Talosian under the Hallmark brand. Christopher Pike is just the latest in a long line of famous Trek captains to be honored as a Keepsake.

What a huge surprise to have Dr. Beverly Crusher appear in ornament form for 2024. Hopefully, we see more of the secondary TNG crew in the future. Geordi LaForge perhaps?

Hallmark is also releasing two Star Trek mini ornaments in ‘24. The Enterprise Refit, which is the baby brother of the 5.7” long 2019 Enterprise refit ornament. Lastly, Hallmark will be releasing a mini Spock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture garb. This ornament may be most surprising since all of the previous mini ornaments were copies of earlier Hallmark ornaments and this sculpt has never been seen before.

Spock in his The Motion Picture garb from 1979.

I can’t imagine there isn’t something for everyone in this year’s releases. I’m sure there will be some calls for the Protostar and Cerritos ornaments but the arrival of the Enterprise B was a long time coming.

Unfortunately, the Star Trek ornaments are not due to arrive in stores until October except for The Keeper, which will be available in July.

The 2024 Star Trek lineup is the most exciting in years! Bring on July! Bring on October!

Pros: Fantastic audio feature that adds an immersive touch to this striking ornament. The gold finish really makes it stand out in any collection.
Cons: The gold Enterprise is a bit of an oddball—while eye-catching, it feels somewhat out of place without other gold ships to accompany it. Since TNG’s 50th anniversary isn’t until 2037, it may be a while before we see more to create a cohesive golden fleet.

Pros: Wow! This is a fun ornament—a standout moment from early Trek brought to life for the holidays. It’s a joy to finally see one of Star Trek’s classic aliens represented, something Hallmark has long neglected. Bonus points for a screaming Kirk audio feature—honestly, every Trek ornament should have one.
Cons: The M-113 Salt Vampire’s coloring is a bit too light, and Kirk’s facial sculpt doesn’t quite hit the mark—though it’s clearly a tough expression to nail.

In his command gold uniform, the young navigator of the U.S.S. Enterprise is featured in this ornament inspired by the Star Trek Legends series of Keepsake Ornaments. This will be offered in limited quantities beginning at the 2016 Keepsake Ornament Premiere event. Inspired by the Legends series.
Pros: The previous year’s Uhura ornament was declared the final entry in the Legends Series, leaving Chekov as the only core cast member left out. Thankfully, Hallmark made it right—this ornament is labeled “inspired by the Star Trek Legends Series,” giving the beloved ensign his due.
Cons: This would mark Anita Marra Rogers’ 33rd and final Star Trek ornament—a bittersweet sendoff for a legendary sculptor in the line.

Yeah, someone I know made a bit of a fuss over Chekov being left out of the series. It was a decision that had been made based on lower than anticipated sales, and when that someone learned of the decision too late to help get it reinstated for the following year, that someone threw a fit. That someone said no fan or collector would trust Hallmark to finish out a crew in a series again if we did six cast members without doing at least the seventh (resigned to the likelihood of extending to nine being near impossible). When told later it couldn’t happen because the series had been announced as ended, another fit commenced saying our credibility was on the line here and that fit lasted until a path to adding Chekov—the “inspired by” path—was settled upon.

You’re welcome.

Cons: This pristine version doesn’t match its only on-screen appearance, where it was battle-worn and scarred. Of course, a damaged version might not appeal to everyone either—if only there were a way to showcase both sides of the story.

I can explain! Well, I can at least speak to your contra of the pro et contra. (See? And no one thought my 19 college hours of Latin would pay off.)

When this was in development, I did lobby for battle scarring on the C in stores. The argument against it was presented thusly: Many of these ornaments are purchased as gifts. While a self-purchaser would know why it looked “dirty,” a gift buyer might not know and could pass on the purchase. So we went with the “fresh from Utopia Planitia” version for retail. It took us a couple of years but we finally did set the record straight. 😉

While most recognized as a communications officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, Nyota Uhura proved herself as skilled and dependable in performing a variety of functions on the starship’s bridge.
