When a transporter malfunction during an ion storm flung Captain James T. Kirk and three of his officers into another dimension, they found themselves on board the I. S. S. Enterprise, a Terran Empire battle cruiser nearly identical in configuration to the ship they called home. This “mirror universe” Imperial Star Ship Enterprise featured dagger-and-Earth symbols as décor, armed soldiers in every corridor, and torture chambers called agony booths to keep crew members compliant with command.

Pros: Another unexpected delight! A clever repaint of the 2016 Pilot ornament, this version is a must-have for serious Trek fans and collectors of the Mirror Universe lore.
Cons: The saucer and nacelles bear the Terran Empire symbol, which was never actually displayed on the ship in either the original Mirror, Mirror episode or its remastered versions—an odd choice that may bother detail-oriented fans.
In regard to the Terran Empire insignia, I do hear ya but that’s how the licensor was wanting things back then. We were not the only ones in that situation.

Pros: Fantastic likeness of Saru*, capturing his distinctive features with impressive accuracy. A strong addition for Discovery fans.
Cons: The scene chosen isn’t as iconic as past Hallmark dioramas—a common risk when releasing ornaments alongside an ongoing series. Also, *Saru’s unique hands are unfortunately overlooked in the sculpting.
Those are fair comments. Not just ornaments but any consumer products produced early in a TV show’s run feel like missed opportunities as time passes. I do have a soft spot in my heart for this one for a couple of reasons. Doug Jones is a great friend of us who work at Hallmark’s booth at Comic-Con International in San Diego, so I enjoyed capturing his character in ornament form. I also got the chance to give one of these to Sonequa Martin-Green when we attended a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas in 2019. She had not seen it before I gave it to her, and her joy was very apparent.

Pros: A premium, hefty rendition of the Enterprise that feels substantial in hand. It’s great to have a more solid, collectible version, and it would be fantastic if this became a series to showcase other ships in the fleet.
Cons: Compared to typical ship ornaments, this one lacks the intricate detailing fans expect. The simplicity may disappoint those used to the finely sculpted pieces in the collection.
To be honest, as this predates my current role in ornaments, I thought it would be a series, too. I’m going to look into this as a possibility since we have some milestone anniversaries in the coming years.
