Star Trek Arcade Simulator Inspiration

Available in stores now!

Kevin Dilmore tests out the Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator Arcade Game at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, Nevada back in 2013. This is the very machine that would be photographed a decade later when bringing the 2025 Keepsake to fruition.

The cabinet graphics would be recreated by Orville Wilson from art on a brochure for the game. The gameplay heard in the ornament and seen on the display was captured while Kevin played an online emulator of the game.

(No word if a Kevin Dilmore pose-able action figure will be available at a later date.)

Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Debut – Trek Ornaments Have Arrived!

First impressions:

  • Holographic Janeway is a good sculpt being of an animated character but doesn’t quite reach the heights of the fantastic Ensigns Beckett Mariner and Bradward Boimler ornaments that were released in July.
  • The U.S.S. Titan is a great sculpt as some have already seen from its counterpart, the event exclusive U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G. Long-time collectors may have issue with the lack of lights but the ship is still an impressive addition without them.
  • Guinan has it all, a great pose, beautiful coloring and a fantastic likeness. Possibly the best Star Trek: The Next Generation character ornament yet.
  • The Beware the Borg! Table Decoration is the most impressive of the 2025 Trek offerings. The colored lights are gorgeous, the sound clear and it’s sheer size makes it a stand out.
  • Pound for pound, the Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator Arcade Game steals the show! Whether you loved the arcade game in the 80s or didn’t know of its existence, this is a fun ornament! If you’re on the fence with this one, be sure to hit the button to see and hear it in action.
  • The Seven of Nine mini has the same detail issues that all of the miniature ornaments have. It’s a shame we didn’t get this version of Seven in a standard size.
  • Unfortunately, the U.S.S. Voyager mini is very washed out and easily the least impressive. It took getting right up on it to even see the coloring on the nacelles. The miniature line would benefit by being scaled up a bit to the size of the Enterprise D that is included with this year’s Borg Cube.

Overall, an outstanding Star Trek ornament lineup. Hallmark has stepped up their game in recent years with the choices and the implementations. In fact, looking at the entire wall of ornaments available this year, the leap in quality, detail and variety compared to ten years ago is quite noticeable.

So…is it too early for a sneak peek at 2026?
