“The Menagerie” STAR TREK™
Logic or loyalty? Spock remains true to both in “The Menagerie,” a Star Trek original series two-parter from 1966. Written by series creator Gene Rodenberry, the award-winning episode incorporates “pre-Kirk” footage from an unaired installment that was originally set to be the pilot episode. Spock and Kirk find themselves at Starbase 11, where they meet Spock’s previous captain, Christopher Pike. Now burned and paralyzed from an accident, Pike can no longer walk or talk. Communicating with flashing lights controlled by his brainwaves, he can only answer yes or no…and Spock is the only one who can help him! His predicament and the mutinous lengths to which Spock will go for his former captain and friend lead to one of the series’ most well-known adventures.
Press the button on the ornament to hear Spock and Captain Kirk speak and see Captain Pike’s light flash.

Pros: Fans of the classic The Menagerie episode will appreciate the blinking light detail—it’s a subtle but effective nod to the story’s mysterious and eerie tone.
Cons: While 2015’s The Needs of the Many ornament gets plenty of criticism, this lesser-known Menagerie piece is even darker in mood and design. That feeling is heightened today, especially with Pike’s character being richly developed and beloved in Strange New Worlds. It’s a somber reminder of his origins that may not resonate with every collector.

Klingon Battle Cruiser STAR TREK
Klingons are the most ruthless and feared enemies of Starfleet, and the presence of these menacing warriors in space is made all the more fearsome by the ominous appearance of their battle cruisers. Expressly designed for war, the ships are equipped with powerful weaponry and defense systems including disruptors, photon torpedoes, and cloaking devices. Like a dangerous predator slyly lurking in the cold reaches of space, a Klingon battle cruiser is usually NOT a welcome sight for the crews of other Federation starships.

Pros: The detailing on this ornament is truly unmatched, surpassing even the beloved 1994 Klingon Bird-of-Prey. It’s a bold, commanding piece that stands out in any collection.
Cons: However, when it comes to lighting, the 1994 Bird-of-Prey still holds the edge with a more striking illumination effect.

If you had to invent a futuristic communications device, what would it look like? Decades before flip phones became commonplace, the visionary prop artists of STAR TREK created this convincing, portable, and highly desirable method for 23rd century Starfleet crew members to keep in touch with each other. Its transmissions could cross great distances, and its functions included a locator that anticipated today’s GPS.

“The Trouble With Tribbles” STAR TREK™
One of Star Trek’s most memorable episodes, “The Trouble With Tribbles,” first aired in 1967. The trouble with these soothing little fur balls is that they reproduce at warp speed and go boldly through Space Station K-7 eating anything that’s not nailed down – including an entire shipment of grain entrusted to Captain Kirk’s care! In the end, however, the tribbles – who hate Klingons – expose a Klingon agent who has poisoned the grain. As a parting gift, the remainder of them are beamed aboard the enemy ship, where Mr. Scott promises they’ll be “no tribble at all.”
Press the button on the base of the ornament to hear Captain Kirk speak and see the troublesome tribbles fall from the overhead compartment.

Additional information: This is artist Don Palmiter’s on Hallmark Star Trek ornament.
Pros: A brilliantly designed ornament that brings one of Star Trek’s most beloved comedic moments to life. Kirk in his iconic green wrap uniform is always a win—and the falling tribbles? Absolutely delightful.
Cons: As with other small-scale scene ornaments, facial details suffer, making Kirk’s likeness borderline disturbing. And while the tumbling tribbles are clever, the audible clicking as they fall is very noticeable. This ornament is HEAVY.

Will There Be a Beverly Crusher Ornament in ‘24?

With the recent behind the scenes footage from the making of the 2024 Hallmark Dream Book we were able to get a quick glance of the Christopher Pike ornament that was announced late last year. Included in the image is a second ornament that looks similar to Beverly Crusher, our Next Generation doctor.

There is no doubt it bares a resemblance, from the red shoulder length hair and blue knee-length open medical coat to the black pants with matching collar. Couple that with the fact it is being photographed along side the Pike ornament on what would presumably be the Star Trek page of the Dream Book and the odds are likelier.

A Crusher ornament was my first thought after seeing the image but I quickly dismissed it. It seemed unlikely Hallmark would revisit the secondary characters of Next Generation. When I saw a reader’s comment on here also asking if it was Crusher, I looked again and couldn’t help but think there may be something to this revisit of the Next Generation crew. The cast was back in the spotlight with last year’s Picard Season 3 reunion and it may be the perfect time to honor the TNG crew more thoroughly. Perhaps this is part of a Next Generation Legends series that TOS was honored with from 2010-2016. Fingers crossed.

Possible Crusher ornament (left) from behind the scenes of the Dream Book shoot.
The file for the images is clearly marked Star Trek. Well, somewhat clearly.

CONFIRMED!

It seems it was answered before the question was even asked due to an overlooked comment from Kevin Dilmore.

Additional information: 25th anniversary of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Pros: Capturing the bridge and viewscreen from The Wrath of Khan at this angle is a clever idea. It instantly evokes one of the most iconic confrontations in Trek history, and the partial recreation of the set is an ambitious touch for an ornament.
Cons: Unfortunately, the figures are so small that their sculpts feel overly simplified and lack detail. The concept is solid, but the scale limits its impact. This is a scene that would truly shine as a larger tabletop display rather than a tree ornament.

Pros: It’s a treat to see this somewhat obscure but extraordinary version of the Enterprise-D—complete with its third nacelle and aggressive upgrades—join the holiday fleet. The sculpt is sharp, and the design perfectly captures the ship’s sleek but formidable look from “All Good Things…”.
Cons: Some fans may not immediately recognize this alternate future Enterprise. To which we say: shame on them! A quick rewatch of the TNG finale should fix that.

Pros: You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one. The use of strobe lights creates a fantastic transporter effect that truly feels alive—and the sound is bold, immersive, and attention-grabbing. It’s a showstopper on the tree.
Cons: The character sculpts don’t quite match the quality of the effects—they’re serviceable, but not standout. And yes, the volume is really loud. Great for dramatic flair… maybe less so for quiet holiday mornings.

Pros: Arguably the most intricately detailed Star Trek ornament sculpted by Anita Marra Rogers—and she absolutely delivered. From the cybernetic implants to the textured suit, Locutus is a stunning representation of one of Trek’s most haunting transformations.

Pros: Khan marks the first Star Trek character ornament not based on a main crew member—a bold move that showed Hallmark was willing to explore deeper corners of the Trek universe. A great choice in theory, and one that expanded the line beyond the bridge crew.
Cons: Unfortunately, this version is based on Space Seed, not The Wrath of Khan—where the character truly became legendary. The pose is generic and forgettable, the skin tone is noticeably off, and it lacks the intensity that made Khan an icon. Let’s be honest: the real Khan ornament fans want is Kirk, fists clenched, yelling his name to the heavens. It’s one of those moments that transcends fandom. Hallmark, we’re still waiting—KHAAAN!

Additional information: The first Star Trek ship to be powered by batteries instead of a light strand via pigtail.
Pros: Incredible sculpting detail and gorgeous blue accents make this Enterprise-A ornament a standout in the series. Every curve and contour is beautifully rendered, capturing the classic ship’s elegance.
Cons: Despite removing the heavy pigtail hanger, the ornament remains unbalanced, causing the saucer section to tilt upward when displayed. It can be a challenge to find the right spot for a level presentation.

Pros: Three die-cast metal Star Trek insignias for just $12.95—an unbeatable value for fans looking to add some subtle flair to their holiday décor. Compact, durable, and unmistakably Trek.
Cons: Their shape and size make them a bit awkward to hang as traditional ornaments. They work better as collectibles or even as decorative accents off the tree.

Additional information: The first scene based ornament.
Pros: The Guardian of Forever is beautifully recreated in this ornament, with an impressive sculpt and sound clips straight from one of Star Trek’s most iconic episodes. The activation button is cleverly concealed within the stone pillar, adding to the immersive design without compromising aesthetics.
Cons: This ornament is unfortunately known for a common malfunction—a faulty capacitor that tends to overheat and cause the sound feature to fail. The good news? All is not lost. Resourceful fans can find YouTube repair tutorials and even eBay-based restoration services to bring their Guardian back to life.

Additional information: This ornament had had the largest drop in value of all the Trek ornaments.
Pros: If your goal was to preserve Enterprise’s environmental suit in ornament form, mission accomplished. The sculpt gets the suit details right, and it’s a fun representation of the show’s focus on early space exploration.
Cons: Unfortunately, the likeness falls flat. Tucker’s face has a generic, slightly vacant expression that doesn’t quite capture the charm or personality of the character. On second thought… maybe keep the helmet on.

VULCAN COMMAND SHIP ENTERPRISE
Vulcans were the first alien species to make contact when humans achieved the technology to travel to the stars. The encounter was friendly, but as time passed, the Vulcans became paternalistic and controlling to protect their interests. The ships of the Vulcan High Command are never far from the ENTERPRISE as it explores neighboring regions of the galaxy.
This Keepsake Ornament is a ship from the Vulcan fleet that features their characteristic sleek daggerlike hull and upright ring design. The bridge is lighted, and blue panels glow from inside the propulsion ring. A small scout ship can be seen, docked in the aft section of the fuselage.

Pros: A visually striking design that stands out from the rest of the fleet. The sculpt is sleek and elegant, perfectly capturing Vulcan aesthetics—and the warm, glowing lights make it especially eye-catching on the tree.
Cons: While die-hard fans will appreciate the deep cut, the ship isn’t instantly recognizable to casual viewers. Without context, it may be mistaken for a generic sci-fi vessel rather than a piece of Star Trek lore.
